Nothing Like We Imagined – A Kreativ Blogger Award Winner!!!
Last weekend I became the recipient of the Kreativ Blogger Award, my first blog award, and I’m very excited about the recognition.
First, I need to thank Christine Speno, who had nominated me for this award. Christine has an impressive background in writing and editing. Her blog, Words Etc. (Exploring communication on all levels,) is a great source of information for writing (including a section specific to resume writing.) She also offers inspiration, motivation and encouragement. Please visit her blog here:
My blogging habits have been sporadic at best, which is why this recognition was a pleasant surprise. In fact, I’m embarrassed to say that my last post before this award was on Thanksgiving Day. I suppose when I do find the time to blog, I do a decent job of informing or entertaining. It always feels good when other people read something of yours and comments about how much they enjoyed reading. Yes, we writers need the ego boost from time-to-time.
I was actually in the process of getting down some ideas and committing to blogging more often when I received the good news from Christine. She gave me that extra encouragement to follow through with my goal. Not only do I plan to post more frequently and regularly, but participating in the Kreative Blogger Award process has made me realize something else—I need to become more involved in terms of reading and commenting on other bloggers’ sites as well. There are some great blog sites and articles out there, and I’ve been missing out.
The guidelines for the accepting and participating in the Kreative Blogger Award are as follows:
- list six blogs that I think are outstanding and deserving of the reward
- share ten things that your readers don’t know about you
First, let me tell you ten things about me—yeah, I’m going to keep you in suspense about my nominees:
1) I was raised in Lower Burrell, a suburb northeast of Pittsburgh, PA (Go Steelers, Go Pens!!)
2) I’ve been living in Florida since 1994, but have lived all over the state.
3) Aside from writing, I love to play ice hockey…particularly goalie.
4) My lucky number (and game jersey number) is 27.
5) My favorite food is tacos (although my stomach may not always agree.)
6) I have a 17-month-old Jack Russell Terrier named Leia (after Princess Leia.) You can read more about her in my recent blog post: There’s an Addict in My House!
7) My thought process is fairly balanced between the analytical and creative—I’ve had some pretty good wars between the two in my brain.
8) I’m a software developer by day, although I really don’t enjoy talking about it. (Yes, my dream, like so many other bloggers I know, is to become a full-time writer.)
9) I’m not a patient driver…but in my defense, there are a lot of terrible drivers in Florida—you know who you are!
10) I’m a big movie fan (I wouldn’t mind writing for Hollywood someday) and am quite fond of my home theater system.
Okay, enough of that—on to the winners:
I’ve nominated the six bloggers below for a number of reasons. But the main draw for me is that all these bloggers have strong voices, show their personalities, and let you into their lives. They also share wonderful information on writing, post short stories, and just discuss the intricacies of life in general.
For those of you visiting my site, please check out their sites as well. These writers work hard at bringing you good information in an entertaining format. And awards like this are a great opportunity for bloggers to expand their viewership, and hopefully get a few new subscriptions to their blog.
So without any further ado, here they are:
- Maria Kelly, Author of the Strange and Macabre
- Nothing to Read Here
- Motherhood Is Easy…As Long As You Have Nothing Else To Do For The Next 50 Years
- River House Writers of St Augustine
- Candice W. Coghill’s Blog
- Faith, Hope and Grace
Congratulations, bloggers! Keep doing what you’re doing and I’ll keep coming back, and hopefully so will many others. And if you accept this award and decide to participate, remember to give a shout out to the blogger who nominated you.
Which reminds me, thanks again, Christine Speno!
